Alice Dellal Fronts Nokia Roller Skating Campaign

Up-and-coming model Alice Dellal, who as we recently reported, has landed a major Mango contract (to add to her Agent Provocateur one) is also now the face of Nokia’s Skate Almighty campaign.

Wearing some raging roller disco gear, she is pictured gallavanting all around London, climbing all over Big Ben and the like, to promote a series of three-day events in London, Birmingham and Manchester.

If you fancy yourself the roller disco queen (and want to try out some neon leggings and glittery eye shadow) then you can register here. It’s free (yippee!) and you’ll get to hear some great tunes from Hot Chip, Zero 7 and Guilty Pleasures while eyeing up everybody’s outfits. Sounds like a good day/night out to me!

Hey! Get Your Hands Off My Ball’s!

I know allot of people that skate that don’t really know much about their skates. I make it my business to know my skates inside and out but here are some tips about ball bearings for those who dont!

ball-bearings

Your new Bones Bearings are the most accurately manufactured part of your skate, with clearances and tolerances considerably smaller than 1/1000th of an inch. That means that a single hair is thicker than the clearance between the balls and the races inside the bearing, and a hair will clog it up and slow you down. Because you skate outside through dust, sand, water, mud, etc; your bearings will eventually get dirty and/or wet. When they are dirty, you will notice they don’t spin freely when you flick the wheel and you may also notice they are getting noisy. At this point you have two options: clean your bearings or replace them.
